We Hillary supporters learned in 2008 that the Democratic Party, under the leadership of Dean, Pelosi, Reid, Teddy K, and cohorts could not be counted upon to support the most qualified candidate. They chose to place self-interest first, and in their support of Obama, were willing to subvert democracy, steal votes from Hillary Clinton, and refuse to allow her name to be placed in nomination for a floor vote at the convention – even though she had earned 18 million votes. They attempted to force her out of the race when she was winning, and tried to brow beat her supporters into throwing their support to Obama. When that didn’t happen, they called us names, and Dona Brazille invited us to leave the party which, according to Dona had become the New Democratic Party, and no longer needed working class whites or women.
The Democratic Party placed election of their candidate, Obama, before the country’s best interest in 2008, and by any means possible, fought to place him in the White House, even though he lacked experience, and his previous record in public office was weak. So eager were they to see the country elect the first black president, and to beat the Clintons, they were willing to overlook every suspect, problematic bit of available information about Obama’s background and the fact that he was unqualified to serve. He was black (at least half black), he was one of them, a progressive, and NOT a Clinton Dem. That made it worth it to the DNP to place this country at risk and push Barack Obama into office.
In 2008 it became clear to the real advocates of equal rights for women (even if not to the so-called feminists like NOW and other groups who were supposed to support women’s rights) that the Democratic Party, which claimed to support equal and civil rights for all, could not give less of a damn about women. They wanted our votes, our money, our support, but not our candidate for president. Well, they got Barack installed as President, and along with him, are responsible for the mess this country is in. The Dem Party did not put country first in 2008. They – and the country – will pay for that mistake for some time to come.
