One thing is for sure, Trump is helping keep the Ground Zero mosque in the news with his offer (and the subsequent rejection from investor Hisham Elzanaty). The longer the Ground Zero mosque stays in the front pages, the worse many ordinary Americans will think of Obama since they already associate him with being a supporter of Islam if not a muslim himself.

Isn’t it hypocritical: Obama rushes to defend the constitutional rights of muslims to “worship in Manhattan” but when it comes to burning a book, Constitutional “Professor” Obama forgets that the First Amendment also covers speech.

Agreed. He should never have weighed in on this. By ding so, he gave even more ammunition to his detractors. It is also inappropriate for him to show such sensitivity toward this mosque and nary a word about those massacred at Fort Hood — or at the very least, he was pretending that was not an act of terrorism.
I also noticed, Ani, that Obama made many overtures to muslims for Ramadan but I didn’t hear any “happy New Year” wishes to Jews on Rosh Hashanah,which was a couple of days ago…
Barry’s allegiances were clear to anyone who cared to notice in 2008. He has been surrounded by anti-semites and Islamic sympathizers for decades, if not his entire life. One cannot control one’s environment in childhood, but certainly is responsible for choosing associates in adulthood.

You are so right about this, many of the Black Muslims in our town are angry with Obama.
In their view, he is a false person, the son of a Muslim is always a Muslim, and they feel he is hiding behind a Christian Church.
Many of the Barber, and Beauty Shops, are the meeting places where Obama is discussed.
Most of the Black Churches are closing, or in a state of Bankruptcy, the community is very dissapointed, and concerned that a Mosque Site is in the news constantly and their needs are not being met.
Many of the Blacks fear that the clock is in reverse, and they are being placed in the back of the bus.
I have heard/read that the developer is in financial trouble and he is trying to scam a very big deal for himself. 25% more than the purchase price is a low-ball figure for them. They are already saying they have been offered much much more. HillBuzz is saying that Trump may want to go in to have the building taken as eminint domain and try to build a hotel there. Either way, Donald Trump is a true patriot.

If you’ve followed The Donald’s career you’ll recognize that his first priority is the potential of a beneficial business deal (beneficial to The Donald), followed closely by his signature self-promotion (also quite beneficial to The Donald), this time with a patriotism angle thrown in there as a kicker. Deal or not on the mosque site real estate, Trump wins. The folks at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue should be taking notes.

Just heard Trump on Hannity describe his conversation with the imam and concluded:
“He’s using the mosque and religion to bludgeon a lot of money out of people…”
If only Mr. Trump could call the Boy Blunder into his office and tell him “you’re fired!” Nice dream..huh?
The news coverage on 9/11 in New York revealed that the site is already being used for prayers. It was locked and the people who came to use it were directed to another site 10 blocks away.
If once a Mosque always a Mosque is true and the location has been used for prayers, does this mean that, in the Muslim mind, that the site is already a Mosque and can’t be moved? Would that be a reason for Imam Rauf to proclaim that the Muslim World will be up at arms if the center is moved to a different site?
Could that be the reason that Rauf is demanding so much money from Trump? Under Islamic law, murder is punishable by death but only if the family of the murder victim is not bought off by a payment of “blood money.”
