Too pathetic for analysis: A Democrat retains the seat of his boss in a district where Democrats outnumber Republicans 2:1 by running on an anti-Obama agenda, and Democrats across the land celebrate the victory as if Obama himself had been re-elected.
Critz’s victory is the clearest indicator yet that November elections will not be about ousting incumbents. Rather, they will be a direct thumbs-up or thumbs-down poll on Obama’s agenda. Good luck, Barry!

you are so right. i live in the PA 12 and Critz was running against Obama. And Murtha was a big time Hillary supporter till the bitter end-… and i mean bitter. Bill Clinton was here campaigning for Critz. It was a vote for the Clintons, against Obama. And Obama mlsreads this at his peril.
I suppose the party leadership thinks it will eventually be able to assimilate Critz and turn him into an unquestioning loyalist to His Highness, which would explain their “joy” at his election.
Absolutely right on. And the Joe Sestak victory over Arlen Specter was a huge anti-O-bla-bla vote as well. I’m proud of my fellow Pennsylvanians.
What about the WH quid pro quo offered to Sestak…how’s that for “change we can believe in?”
Here in Wisconsin, the great Senator Russ Feingold (D) also seems to be in some real trouble in his bid for reelection. A new Rasmussen poll has Feingold up by two points (that’s within the margin of error) against a Republican challenger who only announced his candidacy a week ago. Those results make me think we’re looking at an early “anybody-but-Feingold” sentiment since neither candidate has even started campaigning yet.
Feingold has been a flaming liberal, go-along Democrat his whole tenure so I can’t wait to see how he positions himself once the mud starts to fly. He was a huge Bush-basher, but beating that old carcass probably won’t fly this time around. The new prosperity of that whole hope and change, warm fuzzies, ain’t-I-good-with-a-teleprompter, don’tcha-love-my-smile Obama shtick hasn’t made its way to Wisconsin yet. Feingold won’t find much shade trying to hide in Obama’s shadow anywhere around here.
