It’s 1981, New York City. Barack Obama is residing two blocks away from Weather Underground leader William Ayers. We know very little about Obama’s life in NYC during that period; supposedly he transferred from Occidental College and completed undergraduate studies at Columbia University. Obama’s academic records and, in fact, the records of his life from those years in New York are lost. [See references at end.]
At Occidental, Obama belonged to Students for Economic Democracy (SED), a radical socialist “cousin” organization to Students for a Democratic Society (SDS), of which the Weather Underground was an off-shoot. Did Obama continue his SED membership at Columbia? (I read recently that Columbia was a major SDS center.)
In 1981, former Weather Underground members along with a few former Black Panthers are arrested in association with the robbery of a Brinks armored truck 20 miles north of Manhattan. A guard is killed and the driver is wounded. $1.6 million is recovered.
One of the Weather Underground members arrested for the Brinks crime is Kathy Boudin, along with her boyfriend David Gilbert. Boudin is sentenced to 20 years-to-life. Boudin and Gilbert leave behind a 14-month-old son, Chesa Boudin, who ends up being raised by Bill Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn while his parents live in prison.
One of the former Black Panthers arrested in connection with the Brinks robbery is Nathaniel Burns, a member of the Black Liberation Army. Burns is also known as Sekou Odinga. Burns/Odinga is sentenced to 25 years-to-life for attempted murder of a police officer. (ODINGA, sound familiar?)
Obama and Ayers later end up collaborating on several controversial projects in Chicago. They work together to grant funds to Rashid Khalidi, Trinity United Church of Christ, and ACORN, among other “worthy” recipients. Ayers and Dohrn host a soirée at their home to launch young Barack’s political career. (But we’re now to believe that Barack did not know that Ayers and Dohrn created and starred in the Weather Underground, for which they were tried as criminals.)
As we often see in Obama’s history, here again there are a few degrees of separation that cause curious and intelligent people to ask: Is this just another set of odd coincidences?
I believe that Obama knew Ayers in New York City, and that he’s hiding the association with Ayers, among others, in refusing to provide information about his life there.
Obviously Obama’s campaign is lying (and insulting our intelligence) when it audaciously claims that Obama knew nothing of Ayers’ affiliation with the Weather Underground, up until…when?..(I must have missed that part of Axelrod’s explanation. When does he claim that Obama learned about Ayer’s lifelong project, the WU?)
In any event, accepting Axelrod’s explanation would require us to conclude that Obama is stupid. Really stupid, which sort of flies in the face of the magna cum laude thing from Harvard, right?
Everyone knows that the REAL questions are:
- When did Obama first learn about Ayers?
- When did he first meet Ayers?
- What were his “off-campus” activities in New York?
Perhaps if Obama were open about his life, and did not go to such extreme lengths to cover up fundamental facts of his existence, we would not be forced to outline such events as the 1981 Brinks robbery.
Please stop insulting our intelligence, Senator.

Another excellent, revealing post. One question: can it be proven that Obama bin Biden was a member of SDS? I have no reason to doubt you based on the multitude of circumstantial evidence, but no one can find a paper trail for this guy. Thanks.

The SDS were not the Young Republicans. They are not and were not a traditional student org.You won’t find a national HQ with membership records,so tying Obama to the SDS is not easy. By 81 the group was in decline. Nam was over and Magnus Ronaldus was POTUS so I don’t know what the attraction would have been for Obama.
The paper trail is another thing. Guys like GWB and Kerry were not proud of their college records, especially Kerry, but they opened them up. People remembered them. How is it possible that NO ONE has come forward to remember Obama at Columbia? If I were to show up on TV on American Idol or as a supected embezzler dozens of people would remember me clearly and I was hardly a BMOC, and my college was in NYC with a similarly sized enrollment as Columbia. Bill Clinton had dozens of Georgetown Hoyas, some of the friends of mine, attest to his college days.
Hypothesis: This guy did not go to Columbia. He hung around NYC, made some contacts, played the 6 degrees of separation game ( which as a sociopath he is inclined to) got his gig as a community organizer which wouldn’t require a check on his grades, made some connections to radicals, and Percy Sutton whom I respect for his service as a Tuskeegee Mustang pilot, was a radical, traded on these connections and goti nto Harvard Law on a pass and the recommendations of members of the radical community.
He is in every sense a FRAUD.

My experience as a restless young person was that restless young people seek out other people they think are simpatico or are at least friends of a friend. So I’m thinking it isn’t a coincidence at all IF he was in the SDS at Occidental (or the BP) for him to go to New York and Columbia and see the stars of the SDS. That’s what kids do. And nasty plotters like Ayers and the gang look for willing proteges. And the Odinga thing is like the cherry on the sundae. By then, O. might have known about the Odinga branch of the family. Woot! Triple catch, BP-SDS-relatives, or at least the figment of a relation.
Nice summary, TD – I don’t think anything with the Jr. Senator from Illinois is a coincidence. In William Ayers book, “A Kind and Just Parent” about juvenile court. Around page 82, he describes his neighborhood of Hyde Park. This is the quote:

I think it was written in 1997 and published in 1998. “Dreams from my Father” was published in 1995 with a limited issue of 35,000 books (I don’t know how many actually sold). He re-published after his 2004 convention speech, which launched it.
To call out Barack Obama in the same category of fame as Muhammad Ali, Louis Farrakhan, a former mayor and a Pulitzer Prize winning poet is tremendously strange for “just a guy in my neighborhood.” Particularly when Obama’s book was not well known at that time.
Obama was extremely active in southside Chicago organization work at that time, so to mention him as a “writer” is just a bit odd in that context.
There are people who live around me, as I’m sure similar with you, that have written books with limited to moderate distributions, as well as artists that are locally known, but I wouldn’t mention them as part of my neighborhood in a nationally released book for the purpose of describing the “known” people that live near me…unless I knew them really, really, really well.
Hmmm, probably nothing, huh?
What I found interesting is that Bill Ayers was only two blocks from Obama when he was at Columbia. On his official resume http://billayers.files.wordpress.com/2007/03/9882vita_2006.doc (YES it is his official resume, everything is included except his involvement in the Weathermen underground.)
He lists his address during this period from at least 1981 (possibly as early 1980 I am guessing on how long it takes a fugitive to get a Masters in Arts degree) at Bank Street College of Education. Bank Street is only 2 blocks from Columbia University.
He also lists himself as a teacher at Columbia later on, perhaps he was a adjunct teacher since his profession is education.
I think TD may be on to something.

IF Barack Obama was a member of SDS at Occidental and then ends up being helped by the leader of an SDS splinter group (the Weathermen), funneling money from a foundation to this guy (Ayers’) radical educational initiatives and those of Ayers’ friends and associates, that’s incredibly damning information.

We have to keep in mind that Hillary’s senior thesis was about Alinsky, whom she met and her law intern job turned out to be working for a Stalinist. Of course that was 1969 and her thesis concluded calling Alinsky an anachronism, but still she praised him as well. Using info about SDS or Alinsky is pretty weak and more of a teenage and college fad during the Vietnam war, when governmental repression was very strong.
I lived through that time. SDS was the beginning of the end of the Peace and Love days of the late 60’s—I dispised them.
They co-opted the “peace movement” towards obnoxious and disruptive protests, but when the Weathermen split off is when it really went crazy and the actual violence and terrorism began.
The only thing that really counts is a penchant towards violent overthrow. If Obama was of the same mindset as Ayers that needs to be discovered and nailed down. No one really cared about Tom Hayden and the Chicago Seven after a while—because the Vietnam war was so hated. In popular legend they were victims.
Hayden held some offices in the State of California, then lost support. He is not really considered a violent type like Ayers.
Last I talked to Jerry Rubin, a few weeks before he was hit by a car and died, he was selling multi-level marketing and trying to sell me vitimins and capitalizing on his name as one of the famous “Chicago Seven.” Bobby Searle writes cook books, “Bar B Qing with Bobby” lol Big deal.
The SDS, IMO–were just kids, jerks and nerds with big heads and delusions of grandeur. They were shut down by John Lennon and the Beatles, as soon as the song “Revolution” came out:

After the schism in the SDS that gave birth to the Weathermen—then Ayers took it to another level. That is where the line was crossed. They were very digusting.
The new SDS, begun a few years ago. kicked off at the University of Chicago. They appear to be an anti war, environmental group, but their ties and philosophy is not really what you’d call marxism. They will probably have schism and violent groups will emerge.
Proving a ideology of violent overthrow or contact with foreign powers that are anti-american is what to nail down if it exists. IMO.
One small correction, esp. if you’re doing research. The group was known as “W e a t h e r m a n” ~ singular, not plural, and was never known as The Weathermen. I’d be suspicious of anyone’s research using the latter nomenclature.

I noticed on the Google anniversary search that there are lots of references to Barack J. Obama. Was this yet another name for him? What did the “J” stand for? Did he run for office using that middle initial?
Some references said it was when he was avoiding use of the name “Hussein” so as not to be confused with being Muslim.
I am amazed at how loosey goosey he is with his names. When one becomes inconvenient for any reason–he just changes it.

I spent too much time getting away from those types of people. I think the names I used for them might have been more colloquial or colorful expressions.

Can we verify if this Odinga is family??? I know Obama’s cousin in Kenya that is a radical also has the last name Odinga. If you go on Odinga’s website listed in one the of previous posts. He lists himself in CA in the late 70’s. Wasn’t Barack in CA in the late 70’s and early 80’s? Maybe that was the connection. Maybe Obama met Odinga in CA and then followed him to NY.
None the less, if this information can’t make it to a major media outlet, it won’t matter.
I think Obama knew or knew of Ayers from before he hit the mainland. I think Frank Marshall Davis, a black communist with Chicago ties linking to the 60’s?, who was Obama’s mentor and father-figure in Hawaii…..introduced Obama to Ayers.

A Democratic state representative’s son has been indicted by a federal grand jury in Tennessee for intentionally hacking into Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin’s personal e-mail account.
David C. Kernell, 20, was charged with one count of breaking into the Republican vice presidential nominee’s personal Yahoo e-mail account. Kernell, a student at the University of Tennessee, is the son of state Rep. Michael Kernell of Memphis.
According to the Justice Department, Kernell turned himself in to authorities and is scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday before U.S. Magistrate Judge C. Clifford Shirley.
If convicted, Kernell faces up to five years in jail and a $250,000 fine.
According to the indictment, Kernell, who used the nicknames “rubico” and “rubico 10″ on the Internet, allegedly reset Palin’s e-mail password to “popcorn” using Yahoo’s password-recovery tool on Sept. 16 by “researching and correctly answering a series of personal security questions.”
After changing the password, the indictment alleges he made screenshots of her e-mail directory, e-mail messages and other personal information before posting them to a public Web site. He also posted the reset password.
Kernell was able to obtain the personal e-mail addresses of Palin’s family members, pictures of her family, her birth date and at least one family member’s cell phone number. He also had access to her address book.
The indictment alleges that after posting Palin’s personal information online, Kernell “removed, altered, concealed and covered up files on his laptop computer” to throw off a possible investigation.
Investigators were able to track Kernell down by tracing the hack to his Knoxville apartment through an Internet proxy site.
The case is being prosecuted by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Tennessee and investigated by the FBI’s Anchorage and Knoxville field offices
I was thinking last night that it would be interesting to know exactly what year it was that Bill Ayers and his wife began acting like the model citizens everyone in Hyde Park now claim they are. What if they became discouraged that they weren’t getting anywhere with the straight on criminal terrorist approach and hatched a plan to do a soft coup? A sleeper cell manchurian candidate type takeover? What was Obama doing the year the Ayers gave up their criminal activity and became “model citizens”?
It has always seemed very weird to me that anyone with the Weatherman temperament could suddenly switch in midstream–especially since he still expresses support for the terrorist activities in some of his interviews. I’m totally amazed that I’m following this line of reasoning but recent events and the boldness of Obama’s identity coverup have naturally led me into thinking about such things.

While trolling through hundreds of old Google links this morning, I read somewhere that Ayers and Dohrn went on the lam, until they turned themselves in, circa 1980.
He lived “underground”, taking names of dead babies that were born the same year that he was. They lived in “safe houses”. (Makes me wonder who owned those safe houses. Why do I suspect that the names would ring a bell?)
Ayers wrote a book about this time, called “Fugitive Days.” In it, he mentioned Obama as a “writer” who lived in his Chicago neighborhood. (If it wasn’t in that book, then it was in another of his books. Anyway, the point is that he knew Obama when he was a “writer,” which would seem to be before he had a political career. Why would Ayers know an unknown “writer,” anyway? He listed Obama among other notables (like Farrakhan) who lived in his tony neighborhood. Ayers seems to get his “facts” about as straight as does Obama in his books. I thought that Obama didn’t move into that neighborhood until he got his millions for publishing that fictional autobiography. My head is spinning, at this point, trying to make sense of it all.)
btw, I heard on the radio that there’s an FBI investigation beginning into ACORN and voter registration fraud in Nevada and MO, if not across the country. We’ll see what shakes out. FOX News did an investigation and is going to turn their info over to the FBI.

There is no reason to believe that the Annenberg Foundation and factcheck have an Obama slant due to Bill Ayres.
The Annenberg foundation was founded by Walter Annenberg, who was the diplomat to the UK under Nixon and was a republican. Walter and his wife Leonore, the current head of Annenberg Foundation, donated very large sums to Reagan’s campaign. Leonore served with Reagan as Chief of Protocol.
The Annenberg Challenge was a challenge grant project created by the Annenberg and his foundation whereby they would grant matching 2-1 donations to local project sites. There were 18 of these local projects, the Chicago Annenberg Challenge being one. This indeed was headed by Bill Ayres, however the Annenberg Challenge was not run by the Annenberg Foundation. Instead it simply received $49.2 million dollars. It won this amount by raising $49.2 mil in private donations and $49.2 mil in public money. Therefore the entire project raised nearly $150 mil. The project then spawned off a permanent group called Chicago Public Education Fund.
So the Chicago Annenberg Challenge received $49.2 million out of $387 million. Somehow that’s enough evidence that Obama working on that project suddenly has the ability to create a wholly unethical project that claims to be non-partisan? Somehow getting $49.2 million means that you control the other BILLIONS of dollars that Annenberg Foundation headed by a former Reagan chief donates?

I just listened to Rush Limbaugh talk about all of Bill Ayers’s involvement in “education reform”. If you think about it, it’s rather shocking to think that someone with his viewpoint in life is getting grants and molding the minds of teachers all across the country.
Also, I’m having trouble posting over on Phil Berg’s site but I have a question for any of the legal eagles out there. Let’s just say that the judge concludes that Phil Berg lacks “standing” and doesn’t allow the case to go forward for that reason. And the worst case scenario is that an appeal is denied because the law says he truly does lack standing. At what point would the topic of his eligibility be legally contestable on its own merits without the whole “standing” issue getting in the way? If he doesn’t have standing, who does?
I mean, if something is in the constitution and a significant number of people believe the constitution is being violated, isn’t there some way to legally address it in the courts? It wouldn’t be left just to congress to sort out would it? I can just picture Nancy Pelosi clamboring for an investigation into her precious candidates qualifications….

Ayers and Dohrn are hiding “underground” with various addresses and aliases. Ayers uses the names of young children from cemetery gravestones who were born the same year as he. Known addresses: 2473 North Albany Ave, Logan Square, Chicago (home was purchased by his brother John Ayers in 1979) and 520 West 123rd Street, Upper West Side, NYC.
In NYC they used the names Christine Louise Douglas/Lou Douglas and Anthony J. Lee/Tony Lee. Son Zayd Atheola Dohrn/Zayd Douglas was born in 1977.
At this time also living in the Upper West Side is Kathy Boudin under the alias Lydia Adams/Lynn Adams. Her address is 50 Morningside Ave. Her roommate is Rita Jensen is a reporter for Stamford (Conn) Advocate.
1980 Obama enters his sophomore year at Occidental College in California.
In February Ayers and Dohrn’s 2nd son Malik Cochise Dohrn/Malik Douglas is born. William Ayers goes to BJs Kids a preschool on 85th Street to enroll Zayd and is hired by the owner BJ Richards: “He’s magical with children,” Richards says. “The moment he left, my co-worker and I looked at each other and said, ‘He has to work here.”’ BJ Richards later moves to Chicago in the late 1980s and first lives at the 2473 North Albany Address (since vacated by Ayers and Dohrn) and then at an address in Oak Park (at duplex owned by John Ayers and Judi Minter). She runs a preschool/day care with John Ayers’ wife Judi Minter.
Lou Douglas/Dohrn is working as a waitress at Teacher’s Restaurant at Broadway and 82nd.
August, 1980 Chesa Jackson Gilbert Boudin/C. Adams is born to Kathy Boudin and another Weatherman, David Gilbert. Kathy Boudin applies for and receives welfare under the name Lydia Adams.
Dec 1980 After negotiations with authorities Ayers and Dohrn resurface.
1981 Obama transfers from Occidental to Columbia for his junior year and moves to NYC. He lives at 339 E. 94th St with roommate Sohale Siddiqi.
Oct 1981 Kathy Boudin and David Gilbert arrested for their parts in the Brinks Robbery. Gilbert is sentenced to life in prison. Boudin goes to prison for 22 years and is released from Bedford Hills Correctional Facility in 2003. Son Chesa Boudin had been “adopted” by Ayers and Dohrn.

Sekou Odinga was born Nathaniel Burns. Like other black radicals before him, he decided to take on a less European name. Now, it could just be a coincidence that he chose a Kenyan surname of the same tribe Obama’s father was from. Then again, it might not be. I rather doubt he (Sekou Odinga) is actually related to Obama, though.
Then again, Odinga is also apparently a Dutch surname. Perhaps Sekou likes the Dutch for some reason.

Frankly, I find the $500 donations weekly to be amazing. This is a lot of money to “tithe” to a church. Do you have confirmation of this figure and know how long they contributed such a large amount?
It is certainly NOT middle class ability to give up $2000 per month to a church. Now, that’s a snippet that could get some attention as people who go to church can relate to tithing and they understand how much $500 is. To me, that surely shows a very close, tight committment between the two.

Some corrections/additions to the timeline for Ayers/Dohrn:
According to “Fugitive Days,” (Pg. 291), Zayd Osceola Dohrn was born April 26, 1977 in “the Fillmore District” — which is in San Francisco.
Ayers and Dohrn moved to NYC sometime in 1978, renting an apartment at 520 W 123rd in December, 1979, where Malik was born on Feb. 1, 1980. They gave their previous address as a studio apartment at 457 W 46th. (Which may or may not be correct). They told acquantances they had moved from California.
On or around Nov. 13, 1980, Ayers and Dohrn packed up the kids and moved, telling their employers they had to return to Chicago because of an illness in the family. (Although Federal charges had been dismissed due “prosecutorial misconduct,” they were actually going to surrender to state authorities, apparently pre-negotiated, on outstanding IL state charges relating to the “Days of Rage” in ‘69).
During those two years in NYC, Dohrn worked as a part-time waitress at a restaurant/bar named “Teachers,” and from September 1979 until shortly before the birth of Malik on 2/1/80, at Broadway Baby, 2244 Broadway, near 82nd St.
Ayers first worked as a baker at The Bread Shop, a health food bakery at Broadway and LaSalle Street, before going to work at BJs Kids for $150/week.
